Cello, Cacao & Equinox Ritual

Celebrate the Harvest & Settle Into the Season

During this time of seasonal transition, would you like some specific time for

self reflection, gratitude and honoring?

Join us at 6-8 PM on September 22 at the acoustically brilliant Harmony Woods Retreat Center for a seasonal evening retreat.

Traditionally, the Autumn equinox is a time to honor the harvest. Metaphorically, it refers to the harvest of the  goals and intentions that you planted when the year began. It’s an opportunity to take stalk on how your desires  have been evolving and growing. In pagan mythology, the equinox is called Mabon, it’s the 2nd of three harvest festivals that traditionally are celebrated within community.

Our Equinox ritual will be an intentional time to give thanks for the plentiful harvest, on the land and in your life. We’ll celebrate the joy of preserving and sharing the Earth’s fruits for the coming dark, cold, winter months.

Fruits on Altar

Here is an overview of what we’ll do….

1. Bring an item to place on the community altar. Arrive.

2. Make your spot in the circle. Cello will be playing.

3. Mindfully share a prepared serving of cacao drink, then be guided through a gentle moving body scan.

4. Lie back to be guided into deep rest while listening to cello.

5. Close our evening with a circle of gratitude.

We’ll gather at Harmony Woods Retreat Center, which is a 15 minute drive south of downtown Spokane. In and of itself, this impressive yurt is a sight to behold.

Jesse Ahmann is The Montana Cellist. He composes calming soundscapes that can transport listeners to a place of soulful rest and recovery. You can find Jesse’s music here, on his YouTube channel.

Sarah Rusnak will be your guide for this Cacao and Equinox Ritual with Relaxation. In addition to the serving of cacao you can expect a short 10 minute session of gentle movements from a standing position. These movements are accessible for all bodies, you will be encouraged to “tune into” what you’re feeling in your body in the present moment.

After the gentle movement you’ll be invited to lie back to listen to the cello in stillness. To conclude and close, we’ll sit up and you’ll have the opportunity to share gratitude in the circle.

Already know you want to attend? Don’t need to read any further?

The Ritual: Build an altar. Sit in circle with community. Celebrate the season.

This ritual is a celebration of the earth, the Autumn Equinox and the harvest it provides. We’ll also be witnessing ourselves and each other in a relationship of gratitude for bounty, beauty, the passing of time and the opportunity to rest.

The Cacao: Attune to your senses. Sip. Attune again.

Experience a mindfulness based guided meditation with gentle movement and a serving of ceremonial grade Peruvian Cacao Criollo. Cacao drink made with 1 oz of Ceremonial Grade Cacao Paste, coconut milk, vanilla, and a touch of honey.

Cacao is the raw whole food form of chocolate. This velvety drink is plant medicine. It inspires euphoric states in the body. After you sip the Nitric Oxide production in your body increases, relaxing your arteries, which allows for increased blood flow. Cacao contains Anandamide. Termed “the bliss molecule” it’s associated with improved motivation and increased pleasure

 The Cello: Rest in stillness.

Lay back and relax while you receive the rich and healing vibrations of live cello. Sound and music can be therapeutic, bringing deep relaxation and balance to our system. Letting go while immersing ourselves into the vibrations and sounds can bring us to a serene, peaceful, and connected state.
